CLUB THE FUTURE: PARADISE TECHNIQUE
Club The Future is a series of conversations with various crews, ranging from emerging talents to those with a long-standing presence in the clubbing world. Each week, we explore the ever-changing landscape of nightlife, shining a light on the creativity and innovation that continue to shape the clubbing scene.
Before catching them tomorrow, Friday, October 18th, at Apollo Milano for their next event, we had a chat with Andrewww, one of the founders of Paradise Technique. Since its launch in 2021, this collective has quickly established itself in Milan’s underground scene. As Andrewww explains: "Paradise Technique is all about creating an inclusive, high-energy space, where the music flows beyond traditional boundaries, blending the essence of underground clubbing with a diverse range of genres and moods.”
In a constantly shifting music landscape, Paradise Technique distinguishes itself by offering an experience that is both progressive and firmly grounded in underground club culture.
In an increasingly digital world, how do you think the clubbing experience can maintain its authenticity and human connection?
We firmly believe that clubbing is the greatest form of escape from everyday life in our society, a sacred and magical space where one can fully be themselves and build relationships that would be unimaginable outside of the club. For this reason, we are committed to keeping the modern world out of our parties as much as possible, limiting the use of phones on the dancefloor, and encouraging our audience to engage in meaningful and constructive dialogue with strangers, aiming for a more collective future.
How do the cultural and musical influences within your roster contribute to creating a new narrative in the Milanese clubbing scene?
Paradise Technique was born during a moment of great change in the Milanese scene, in 2021, when new generations mixed with post-COVID veterans, eager for new sounds and experiences. Our sets are heavily influenced by UK culture, with genres like UK Garage, Breaks, 2-step, Electro Breaks, UK Techno, Latin Bass & Dub standing out. We are proud to have been among the first to push this musical style and model of clubbing with conviction, professionalism, and seriousness, a style that is now increasingly recognized by the scene. We also invite international guests to play in Italy for the first time.
What role do you think clubbing can play in promoting inclusivity and a sense of belonging, beyond being just a place of entertainment?
This is a very delicate topic that needs to be addressed properly. In our opinion, clubbing is a powerful converter of emotions and ideas, a social action that should not be underestimated, as it moves masses and shapes minds. It can demonstrate or highlight the orientations of specific communities. As a collective, we are strong supporters of everyone’s rights, opposing all forms of oppression, sexism, misogyny, racism, and fascism. However, we also want to emphasize that our vision of clubbing is truly inclusive. We often feel that too much extremism can create an environment that is not truly inclusive. We like simple people with complex thoughts and important values – less social trends, more real cultural connections and genuine inclusivity.
Looking ahead to the future of clubbing in ten years, what changes or trends do you hope to see, and how does Paradise Technique plan to influence them?
The clubbing world is rapidly evolving, as is the events industry and connected sectors. After analyzing the situation, we’ve come to the conclusion that this is inevitable given the current global, economic, and generational context. We’ve also noticed that audiences in Italy have recently been favoring locations outside traditional clubs and opting for daytime events rather than exclusively nighttime parties. Our mission and duty are to constantly engage with colleagues worldwide and understand the needs of new clubbers so that we can grow and evolve alongside our community.
