MARCO MALDARELLA

At the edge of modern psychedelic techno and tribe infused music, Marco Maldarella dwells into bottomless abyss with his fast paced sound signature. Marco brings the high definition IDM glitches and contemporary left-field electronic music into a deep post tribe experience. Always fascinated by visual arts combined with technology and leftfield music, his sound is characterized by multiple recognizable influences that bridge contemporary music, organic sounds, monolithic almost primal rhythms, and a focus on atmospheres, drones, and ephemeral voices to create synesthetic, tactile landascape and a deeply psychoactive feeling. Born in Bologna, in central-northern Italy, after a past in some bands of the hardcore and metal scene in his youth as a front-man or guitarist, and later known as a graphic designer and visual artist, he approached electro- nic music first from the compositional side. Collaborating with Christian Duka, he began releasing productions under the name MARMO, a live-duo still active today, which has worked its way through various flavors of electronic music that lie between ambient and dance music, arriving at the definition of their singular aesthetic. With a focus on live music, the duo works on productions for audio-video performances as well as live shows in European clubs. Meanwhile, Marco, in his personal artistic pursuit, handles the graphic direction for a series of local events. He also collaborates with international artists and labels, initially curating selections that blend the sounds of hypnotic techno with UK breakbeat and off-kilter sounds, and later exploring rhythms and progressions closer to a trance oriented sound Collaborating with Abo (co-owner of De Rio label) and Amanita Pakchoyy (Berlin based multidisciplinary artist) he started a touring series of events called Sinestesie, with a monthly residency at Radio Raheem (Milan). Waiting for his debut solo EP on Omen Wapta, he released on various artist by Materica Records, and Suburban Avenue, worked on soundtracks for independent film shorts and some live visual shows like Ambivalen+ London, Artfutura, Xolo and Spektrum Berlin. In Marco’s productions, you will find the rhythmic and unpredictable chaotic tale of the atomic fall towards oneself. As the infinitesimally small and the infinitesimally large come to coincide in the creative moment, even time bends and adapts in the service of this imperceptible revelation. Through sounds of ancient reminiscence to the most contemporary clubbing subculture, passing through an exasperated minimalism that leaves no detail behind. Complex, elegant, profound.
